In the first half of this year, Ho Chi Minh City emerged as the top destination searched by Chinese tourists in Vietnam, according to data from an online travel platform. The city’s vibrant culture, bustling markets, and modern infrastructure have made it a favorite among travelers from across the border.

Hanoi followed closely behind, securing the second position on the list. This historic capital is known for its rich heritage, ancient temples, and scenic landscapes, which continue to attract a growing number of visitors. The third spot was claimed by Phu Quoc, a tropical island renowned for its pristine beaches and tranquil atmosphere. Da Nang and Nha Trang rounded out the top five, showcasing the diverse appeal of Vietnam’s destinations.

Agoda’s rankings align with broader tourism trends, highlighting the increasing interest from Chinese tourists in both urban centers and coastal getaways. The data reflects a clear pattern: Chinese travelers are increasingly drawn to Vietnam’s major cities and popular beach locations, seeking a mix of cultural experiences and relaxation.

Mainland China remained the largest source of international visitors to Vietnam during the first half of the year, with 2.72 million arrivals. This represents a significant 44% year-on-year growth, indicating a strong recovery in cross-border travel following the pandemic. The steady rise in Chinese tourists has contributed to the overall boost in Vietnam’s tourism sector.

Beach Destinations at the Forefront

Beyond the urban centers, beach destinations such as Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, and Da Nang have also seen a notable influx of Chinese tourists. These locations offer a perfect blend of natural beauty, adventure, and leisure, making them ideal spots for relaxation and exploration.

Phu Quoc, in particular, has gained significant attention in recent years. The island has become a hotspot for celebrities and influencers, further enhancing its global appeal. Notably, Chinese actor and martial artist Vincent Zhao, along with Miss Hong Kong 2011 Rebecca Zhu, recently visited Phu Quoc, drawing more attention to the destination. Their presence has helped elevate the island’s profile, attracting even more visitors from across Asia.
