Head to Ol’ Mel’s Farm for a 5-Day Summer Adventure

Summer Camp Offers Unique Learning Experience for Kids

As the summer season continues, parents are looking for fun and educational activities to keep their children engaged before the school year begins. One such opportunity is Ol’ Mel’s Farm, which is offering a 5-day farm summer camp designed for kids aged 6 to 12. This program provides an excellent way for children to learn about farm life while enjoying hands-on experiences with various animals.

The camp will take place from July 28 to August 1, with each day running from 8:00 a.m. until noon. The focus of the camp is on learning about and interacting with different types of farm animals. Each day will center around a specific animal, allowing children to gain a deeper understanding of their characteristics, behaviors, and roles on a farm.

Hands-On Activities for Educational Fun

Participants will have the chance to engage in a variety of activities that combine education with fun. These include feeding and grooming the animals, as well as petting and spending time with them. The experience is not only enjoyable but also informative, giving kids a chance to learn about animal care and the importance of nature.

Owner Melanie Moore, who runs Ol’ Mel’s Farm, emphasizes the benefits of this type of camp. “A lot of kids nowadays grow up in cities, neighborhoods, and spend a lot of time on electronics,” she said. “This gets them outdoors, interacting with nature, learning about nature. A lot of times, kids just open up and come out of their shell when they’re around animals, and it just helps them grow and learn things.”

Moore added that the camp is structured to allow children to explore different animals each day. “Each day of camp is going to be learning about a specific animal,” she explained. “We’ll start in the mornings by doing horse rides and feeding all of the animals and petting them, and we focus on a different animal each day, such as bunnies, pigs, cows, goats, and horses.”

Benefits of Outdoor Learning

The camp offers more than just entertainment; it provides valuable lessons in responsibility, empathy, and environmental awareness. By working with animals, children develop a greater appreciation for the natural world and the creatures that inhabit it. This kind of experience can also help build confidence and social skills, as kids interact with peers and learn to work together in a supportive environment.

In addition to the daily activities, the camp encourages physical activity and outdoor exploration. Children will have the opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, learn about farm life, and develop a stronger connection to the environment.
