Hajj Lottery at SSUET: Two Employees Win Sacred Pilgrimage

A Sacred Opportunity for Employees at Sir Syed University

The 24th annual Hajj draw at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) took place with a deep sense of reverence, marking another significant milestone in the university’s tradition of offering its employees the opportunity to undertake the sacred pilgrimage. This year’s event successfully selected two staff members who will be traveling to perform Hajj in 2026, an experience that is both spiritually transformative and deeply meaningful.

The initiative, organized by the university’s administration, is a reflection of the institution’s commitment to the well-being and spiritual growth of its employees. It provides a unique chance for individuals to engage in one of the most important religious practices in Islam, while also fostering a sense of community and shared purpose among the staff.

This year’s winners include Nadia Qamar, an Assistant Professor at the university, and Abdul Hameed, a Senior Security Guard. Both individuals were chosen through a fair and transparent process, which ensures that all eligible employees have an equal opportunity to participate. In addition to the selected participants, two more individuals—Engr. Madiha Abbasi, a Senior Lecturer in Telecommunications, and Engr. Prof. Dr. Abdul Sami Qureshi, a Civil Engineering professor—are listed as standby candidates, ready to step in should any unforeseen circumstances arise.

The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials and faculty members, who expressed their support and admiration for the selected individuals. Chancellor Akbar Ali Khan, in his address during the event, shared heartfelt sentiments about the significance of this opportunity. He stated, “It is a profound blessing from Allah Almighty that four of our esteemed colleagues will have the opportunity to perform Hajj this year. Their selection is not only a personal achievement but also a source of inspiration for the entire university community.”

Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting employee welfare and morale. He noted, “The Hajj balloting is a testament to Sir Syed University’s dedication to its staff. By supporting our employees in their spiritual journeys, we reinforce our values of compassion, inclusivity, and respect.”

The event concluded with a moment of collective prayer and goodwill, where attendees expressed their congratulations to the selected individuals and reaffirmed their commitment to upholding this cherished tradition. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of unity and hope, as the university community gathered to celebrate the achievements of its members.

This annual Hajj draw not only highlights the university’s dedication to its staff but also serves as a reminder of the importance of faith and spiritual growth in everyday life. Through such initiatives, Sir Syed University continues to foster a supportive and inclusive environment, where the well-being of every individual is valued and prioritized.
