Before Friday’s state funeral for the eight individuals who perished in the devastating helicopter accident, the government is requesting messages of sympathy and sincere tributes from the public to be featured in the official funeral booklet.
A message endorsed by the Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, invited those interested individuals and entities to submit their condolences to [email protected].
The deadline for submitting your work is tomorrow, Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 12:00 PM. The funeral is set to begin at 8:00 AM at the Black Star Square.

Eight individuals aboard a Z9 helicopter managed by the Ghana Air Force lost their lives in a crash that occurred in the Adansi region of the Ashanti Region while en route to Obuasi on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
They include Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the Minister of Defence; Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, an MP for Tamale Central and the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
Among the confirmed deceased were the Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator and former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru, along with Dr. Samuel Sarpong, the Second National Vice Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress and a former Ashanti Regional Minister.
The others include Samuel Aboagye, a former NDC parliamentary candidate for the Obuasi East Constituency and Deputy Coordinator of NADMO, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Two of the deceased, Dr. Murtala and Alhaji Muniru, were buried on Sunday at the Military Cemetery in Accra, following Islamic customs.
The country is in a state of shock following their tragic deaths, as the nation grieves for its fallen heroes.
During a tribute held on a night of remembrance and reflection on Saturday, President John Dramani Mahama referred to the crash victims as “devoted public officials, bound together by their dedication to Ghana’s progress.”
