GLENVILLE, W.Va. (WBOY) — Glenville State University has taken a big step toward the completion of its upcoming campus amphitheater, which officials said is nearing completion.
According to a release
, on Wednesday, Glenville State President Dr. Mark Manchin set the center stone of the theater into place. The amphitheater will be located “in the heart” of the university’s campus, with the school calling it a “transformative space for student or student life, campus events, and accessibility at GSU.”

The release said that on top of being an event space, the amphitheater will also serve as a way to “enhance safe, handicap-accessible passage across campus” by connecting various academic buildings and residential halls.
“This amphitheater represents more than just brick and stone—it symbolizes connection,” said Dr. Mark A. Manchin. “It will serve as a unifying space where every Glenville State University student can come together, whether for celebration, conversation, or quiet reflection. This is a place where we will build community, foster creativity, and ensure that all students, regardless of mobility, can fully access and enjoy our campus.”
The amphitheater is set to open over the coming weeks, but it’s not the only construction project the school is working on this summer.
Back in May, the university announced it would be revamping part of I.L. & Sue Morris Stadium
to include new home seating, a scoreboard and a health and fitness complex.
