Gleneagles Chennai Teams Up with VITU for Breakthrough Neuroscience Innovations


This collaboration enhances support for epilepsy treatment, brain cancer management, and tracking of cognitive health.

The Vellore Institute of Technology, University (VITU) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with another entity to foster advancements in AI-driven innovations within the field of neuroscience.

Key areas include neuroinformatics and brain imaging, AI and machine learning applications in healthcare, wearable and IoT-based medical devices, rehabilitation and gait-assistive technologies, and AR/VR-based diagnostic frameworks.

These technologies will support fields like epilepsy care, brain cancer, rehabilitation, and cognitive health monitoring.

Gleneagles Hospital will offer clinical problem scenarios along with utilization of its healthcare facilities.

Furthermore, the hospital’s experts in neurology, neurosurgery, and rehabilitation will guide VIT faculty and students and supervise the verification of prototypes as well as the conduct of clinical trials.

In the meantime, VITU will play a role by designing and developing software algorithms, data-oriented platforms, and system architectures customized for the specific clinical requirements that have been pinpointed.

The university will also support academic research, intellectual property generation, and commercialisation efforts.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Nageshwar Rao, the CEO of Gleneagles Hospital Chennai, and T. Thyagarajan, who serves as the Pro Vice-Chancellor of VIT University.
