The 49th edition of the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, known as SabaSaba 2025, witnessed a significant milestone as Tanzanian-owned automotive and equipment company GF Trucks & Equipment Ltd emerged as the overall winner. The company celebrated this achievement with an energetic event that brought together stakeholders, staff, and clients at the SabaSaba grounds in Dar es Salaam.

This celebration was more than just a moment of pride; it was a reflection of the company’s deep-rooted relationships and collaborative spirit. Employees from both the headquarters and the Kibaha-based assembly plant were present, along with valued customers who have played a crucial role in the company’s journey. This gathering highlighted the importance of partnerships in driving success and growth.

A Triad of Success

During the event, Mr Mehboob Karmali, Chairperson of the Board of Directors at GF Trucks, shared his insights on the factors that contributed to the company’s victory. He emphasized the supportive environment created by the Tanzanian government and the strong internal collaboration between leadership and employees.

“This achievement is the result of a powerful trinity – leadership, workers, and the government. That synergy is the secret behind our continued growth and success,” he stated. His words resonated with the attendees, underscoring the collective effort that led to the recognition.

Diverse Range of Vehicles

GF Trucks & Equipment Ltd has established itself as a key player in the automotive industry by offering a wide range of vehicles tailored for various sectors. From light-duty to heavy-duty trucks, the company caters to the needs of mining, agriculture, and construction industries. Notably, the company provides access to well-known brands such as FAW, XCMG, Mahindra, and Hyundai.

What sets GF Trucks apart is its commitment to local manufacturing. These vehicles are not only available through the company but are also assembled right here in Tanzania at the GF Vehicle Assemblers (GFA) plant located in Kibaha, Coast Region. This local production model supports the national economy and fosters a sense of pride among Tanzanians.

Supporting Local Manufacturing

Mr Ezra Mereng, Factory Manager at GF Vehicle Assemblers, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the role of strong leadership and favorable government policies in creating an environment conducive to local manufacturing. He noted that these factors have enabled the growth of a proudly Tanzanian brand that can compete globally.

“Thanks to strong leadership and favourable government policies for investors, particularly in the automotive sector, we are witnessing the growth of a proudly Tanzanian brand that competes on a global level. The future holds great promise,” he remarked. His comments reflect the optimism surrounding the company’s trajectory and the potential for further expansion.

Positioning for Future Growth

As GF Trucks & Equipment Ltd continues to solidify its position in Tanzania’s industrialization journey, it remains focused on leveraging local ownership, strategic partnerships, and value addition through local assembly.
