General Patton’s Historic Schooner Makes a Grand Arrival at the Port of Rochester

Rochester, N.Y. – A historic ship is dropping its anchor in the area this weekend.

The
Ontario Beach Park Program Committee
hosted General George Patton’s famous 83-foot schooner, “When and If”, at the Port of Rochester on Friday.

Attendees had the opportunity to explore the 86-year-old boat’s rich maritime history and traditions.

“General George Patton built her when the war was apparently coming,” said Captain Sean Flynn. “He said when the war was over, and if I lived through it, he was going to sail around the world with his wife, Beatrice.”
