Frank Lloyd Wright’s Legacy Takes Center Stage in New Media Ventures
Frank Lloyd Wright, often hailed as the “greatest American architect of all time,” is set to have his iconic work transformed into a series of television shows and films. This new venture highlights not only his architectural genius but also his lasting influence on design, culture, and storytelling.
Wright’s designs have already made appearances in popular media. The Ennis House, one of his most famous creations in Los Feliz, was featured in Blade Runner. Similarly, the Storer House appeared in Die Hard and Lethal Weapon. These visual nods to Wright’s work have helped keep his legacy alive in the public consciousness.
Now, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation has entered into a partnership with Galisteo Media, a production company co-founded by Rob Rosenheck and Cindy Capobianco. This collaboration aims to create a range of content based on Wright’s life and work. The projects will include scripted series, films, and non-fiction documentaries, offering a deeper exploration of the architect’s impact.
Galisteo Media will gain exclusive access to the intellectual property of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. This includes rights to produce content featuring Wright’s life and works in Los Angeles during the 1920s, a period when he created some of his most celebrated structures. These include the Mayan Revival textile block houses such as the Ennis House, the Millard House in Pasadena (which appeared in Westworld), the Storer House, the Freeman House in Hollywood, and Hollyhock, which is the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in Los Angeles.
The deal marks a significant step in bringing Wright’s story to a broader audience. His influence continues to be felt in contemporary media. For example, in Seth Rogen’s Apple comedy The Studio, the fictional Continental Studios offices are described as being designed in Wright’s signature Mayan style. In FX’s The Bear, Jeremy Allen White’s character, Carmy, visits his legendary Chicago home and studio in Oak Park, Illinois.
This partnership also allows the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation to tap into Galisteo Media’s network of creators, financing, and distribution channels. Galisteo Media has previously produced and distributed notable projects, such as the 2024 documentary Lover of Men: The Untold History of Abraham Lincoln.
Robert Rosenheck, CEO of Galisteo Media, expressed his admiration for Wright’s contributions. “Frank Lloyd Wright was a giant. Not only did he influence the world of architecture—his philosophy, expressed through his buildings, has influenced the way we live, work, and relate to both the built environment as well as the natural world. It’s long overdue that his remarkable life story is brought to the big screen,” he said.
Joseph Specter, CEO of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, added, “Rob and Cindy have been model stewards of the iconic Ennis House in Los Angeles. Their long history of philanthropy and storytelling makes them the perfect partners to illuminate Wright’s bold experimentation and innovation.”
This new initiative represents more than just a commercial venture; it is an opportunity to educate and inspire future generations about the enduring legacy of one of America’s most influential architects. As the media landscape continues to evolve, Wright’s vision and creativity remain as relevant and compelling as ever.
