More details have emerged about
Food Network star Anne Burrell’s sudden death
. The celebrity chef passed away on June 17 at the age of 55.

The host of ‘Worst Cooks in America’ was reportedly found cold and unresponsive on the floor of the shower
at her Brooklyn home
by her husband, Stuart Claxton, whom she had been married to since 2021.

While the cause and manner of her death have not been revealed, an autopsy will be conducted to
determine what happened
. A New York City Fire Department spokesperson told Page Six that a 911 caller claimed
the beloved chef
suffered a “cardiac arrest” and was “DOA [dead on arrival].”

Her husband reportedly discovered her in the shower at their Brooklyn home around 7 in the morning, hours after last seeing her alive at 1 AM. Her body was cold, and she was unresponsive. Anne was pronounced dead at 7:50 AM.

Her death was confirmed by family members, who released a statement that read, “Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered. Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”

The beloved chef had performed an improv comedy show at The Second City New York just hours before her sudden death and was reportedly in good spirits after the show.

She graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in 1996 and began her career as a chef. After teaching at the Institute of Culinary Education, Anne went on to star as a sous chef on Iron Chef America.

She eventually was awarded her own show, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, which aired for nine seasons and was nominated for an Emmy Award.

She is best known as the host of the Food Network cooking competition show Worst Cooks in America. She also made appearances on several other Food Network shows, such as Chef Wanted, Chopped, Food Network Star, and House of Knives.

Several Food Network stars and fans paid tribute to her after her sudden passing.

The network also released a statement on social media, writing, “We are deeply saddened to share the news that beloved chef, Anne Burrell, passed away this morning. Anne was a remarkable person and culinary talent — teaching, competing and always sharing the importance of food in her life and the joy that a delicious meal can bring. Our thoughts are with Anne’s family, friends and fans during this time of tremendous loss.”
