Flint Hills Technical College Maintains Top Automotive Training Program Accreditation
Flint Hills Technical College (FHTC) has once again proven its commitment to excellence in automotive education by maintaining its ASE Training Program accreditation. This prestigious recognition, granted by the ASE Education Foundation, ensures that the college’s automotive training program meets the highest standards of quality and industry relevance.
The accreditation, which is valid through 2030, represents the top level of program accreditation recognized by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). To achieve this distinction, FHTC’s automotive training program underwent a thorough evaluation process conducted by the ASE Education Foundation. The assessment focused on key areas such as instructional quality, facility standards, and the availability of up-to-date equipment.
This achievement highlights the college’s dedication to preparing students for successful careers in the ever-evolving automotive industry. As technology continues to advance, the need for skilled and well-trained technicians has never been greater. The ASE Education Foundation emphasized that programs like FHTC’s play a crucial role in bridging the gap between education and industry needs.
Michael Coley, President of the ASE Education Foundation, praised the college for its continued efforts to maintain high standards. He noted that the program not only benefits students but also the broader motoring public. “Because this program increases cooperation between local education and industry leaders, it gives added assurance that Flint Hills Technical College’s graduates will be employable entry-level technicians,” he said. “As a result of the quality education provided by Flint Hills Technical College, the motoring public will benefit since better repair technicians will join the workforce.”
To celebrate this accomplishment, the ASE Education Foundation will present a plaque to FHTC, recognizing the program’s achievement and the level of accreditation it has maintained. This honor reflects the hard work of the entire team involved in the evaluation and renewal process.
A Collaborative Effort
Robert Sieberns, an ASE-certified instructor at FHTC, expressed his appreciation for the collaborative effort behind the accreditation. “This is an enormous task to achieve,” he said. “I appreciate all the work that our team and local Advisory Board have put into renewing our accreditation. I would like to personally thank John North Ford, Jesse Wilson of Thurston’s Plus, and DJ Eidman of Mel’s Service for their time in the evaluation process.”
The Automotive Technology program at FHTC is led by experienced instructors who bring real-world expertise into the classroom. Students receive hands-on training in modern diagnostic and service repair techniques, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges of the automotive industry.
Program Offerings and Locations
The program offers two distinct pathways for students: an Associate of Applied Science degree and a technical certificate option. These options provide flexibility for students with different career goals and educational backgrounds.
Classes are available at the main campus in Emporia, as well as at locations in LaHarpe, Kansas, and Garnett, Kansas. This wide range of locations ensures that students across the region can access high-quality automotive education without having to travel far from home.
Preparing Students for the Future
With the automotive industry constantly evolving, FHTC’s program remains at the forefront of innovation and practical training. By aligning with industry standards and maintaining strong partnerships with local businesses, the college ensures that its graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the field.
The continued accreditation by the ASE Education Foundation is a testament to the college’s commitment to excellence and its ability to adapt to the changing demands of the automotive sector. As more advanced technologies emerge, programs like FHTC’s will play an even more critical role in shaping the next generation of automotive professionals.
