Ferscoat Schools hauled 11 medals to emerge as the winner of the maiden Inter Schools Sports for Private schools in Lagos.
The week-long competition witnessed the participation of over hundred students to showcase their talents in different sports which include football as well as track and field games.
Ferscoat topped the table with 5 gold,3 Silver and 3 Bronze medals while Nightingale School finished second with 4 gold,5 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Roshallom Schools finished in third position with 4 gold,1 silver and 5 silver medals.
At the final of the competition, Nightingale school stole the show winning gold in the 4×100 Mixed Relay, 200m gold medal (male category) while Roshallom school won the 200 metres in the female category.
In the football match, Nightingale defeated Cerulean Academy 1-0 while Ferscoat defeated Cedar in the Tug of War to win the gold medal.
Earlier, the director of studies of Ferscoat schools, Pastor Felix Opata said the competition was organised to identify talents and instill life and academic principles.
‘Sports is much more than physical activity or competition. It is a metaphor for life itself, teaching us values that transcend the boundaries of the playing field. Through sports, we learn discipline, perseverance, teamwork and respect- qualities that shape us into better human beings,’ he said.
Opata emphasised that the competition was not just for medals but to foster friendships, collaboration among the students.
