Family Honors Missing Mother Rachel Booth as ‘Guiding Light’

A mother of three, whose body was discovered in a lake, was remembered by her family for her kindness, with them calling her a ‘guiding light whose strength, love, and dedication inspired everyone’.

Rachel Booth, aged 38, disappeared during the night on Friday, prompting an extensive police investigation. Her personal items were discovered near a lake, which led to police divers searching the area for three days.

A woman’s body was discovered yesterday at the lake in Oakmere, Cheshire, and this morning the police stated that her family has verified the identification.

Her passing is not being considered unusual.

In a statement released by Cheshire Police, Ms. Booth’s family stated: ‘Rachel, who we knew as Helena, was a beloved member of our family.’

She was a beacon of guidance, whose love and dedication inspired us all. Her kindness remained unwavering, and her presence provided strength to everyone who knew her. A caring mother, wife, daughter, and sister, she will never be replaced, yet she will always live on in our hearts.

Her absence creates a void, yet her smiles remain a cherished memory that we will hold dear forever.

The family stated: ‘As a family, we would also like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the services and businesses that assisted Cheshire Police and their officers during the search for Rachel.’

Ms. Booth, who is married and has three sons, was last spotted in the early hours of Saturday at a gas station located seven miles from her residence in the village of Barnton, close to Northwich, Cheshire.

She was captured on camera by CCTV when she stopped at the 24-hour Waitrose store located at the Shell gas station in Sandiway, on the main A556 road, at 3:50 am.

Ms. Booth, an avid runner thought to have jogged from her residence, was wearing black leggings, a black tank top, and sneakers, and it’s suspected she might have run to the store.

Later Saturday, officers from Cheshire Constabulary cordoned off the Wild Shore Delamere water sports center, a location popular for open water swimming, paddleboarding, and wakeboarding, situated approximately 1.7 miles further along the main road toward Chester. Multiple police vehicles and fire trucks were also observed at the scene.

On Sunday, authorities verified that expert divers were present at the location, examining the lake adjacent to a group of vacation cabins at Delamere Lake Sailing and Holiday Park.

Chrissie Widdowson, the mother of Ms. Booth, who is 59 years old, posted the police’s request for assistance in locating her daughter on Facebook.

As per social media, Ms. Booth, who has three sons aged 13, 10, and six, tied the knot with her husband Carl, 47, in November 2022.

A source revealed to the Mail that a close family member had reported her disappearance, and there was proof indicating she had gone to Wild Shore, where the primary police efforts were concentrated. It is thought that her possessions were discovered near the lake.

A staff member at the gas station also stated that she purchased milk and a bottle of wine from one of his coworkers, who mentioned that she had jogged to the station and appeared ‘calm and not flustered.’

A man who “grew up just around the block” from Ms. Booth shared on Facebook that “she is truly one of the kindest people you could ever meet.”

One person mentioned she has ‘three amazing boys’ and a ‘supportive spouse.’
