Addis Ababa, July 24, 2025 (ENA) — Ethiopia is preparing to begin a large-scale tree planting project, aiming to plant 700 million saplings within one day.
The single-day gathering is scheduled for July 31, 2025.
The initiative is a component of the country’s Green Legacy Program, aimed at planting 7.5 billion saplings during this rainy season.
Ethiopia has already planted over 40 billion saplings in the last six years as part of the program.
The Prime Minister’s Office announced today that “On July 31, 2025, Ethiopia will strive to plant 700 million saplings in a single day. Let’s prepare as the countdown starts.”
