A wave of grief washed over the Chiromo Mortuary, when Eric Omondi stood shoulder to shoulder with Meshack Opiyo, the grieving father of slain blogger Albert Ojwang.

In a heartbreaking video shared on Eric’s social media pages, the comedian-turned-activist was seen supporting Opiyo during the gut-wrenching moment they viewed the young man’s body.
Their faces, weighed down by sorrow, spoke volumes as they stood in silence before the lifeless body of Meshacks’ son.
Eric then gently embraced the elderly man, engaging him in a heartfelt conversation that was visibly laced with anguish and frustration.
The air was heavy, not just with grief, but with anger over how Ojwang lost his life while in police custody.
“A lot has been going on and we can get carried away with the grief and the funeral and we forget the small things in life like the family itself and how they are doing mentally, psychologically, physically, emotionally and financially,” Eric said.
How can you support Albert’s family?
The activist urged Kenyans to stand with Ojwang’s family in more than just words, calling on his Team Sisi kwa Sisi movement to contribute whatever they could.
“I know we cannot bring back Albert, but tunaweza jaribu kupunguza hio uchungu, hatuwezi itoa, but we can comfort the family,” he added as they bowed in prayer.
Shortly after his appeal, Eric shared the number 0727 927 898 for contributions, a number that was reportedly flooded with donations within the hour, a testament to how deeply Albert’s story has touched the nation.
Albert Ojwang passed away just hours after being arrested by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Initially, the police claimed the X influencer hit his head and died while being held in a cell. However, an autopsy report released on June 10 told a more brutal story: Albert had been beaten to death.
News of the autopsy findings enraged many Kenyans, sparking protests in the streets and amplifying the call for justice.

What happened to Ojwang’s X account?

The teacher was accused by authorities of spreading false information through the platform, but shortly after his arrest, his account vanished.
A search for his username, Alberto Januzaj, reveals that the account has been suspended, though details surrounding when or how the suspension occurred remain unclear.
Many online users have pointed fingers at the officers who arrested him for possibly orchestrating the account’s takedown.
Adding to the mystery, the alleged post that reportedly triggered his arrest has also disappeared, with netizens unable to trace it despite persistent efforts.
