Educators: Boost Your Career with LSUS’ Dual-Enrollment Graduate Certificate Program

SHREVEPORT, La. (

) — Louisiana educators will soon be able to teach dual-enrollment courses thanks to the LSUS graduate certificate program.

According to LSUS, the graduate certificate program in first-year English consists of 18 credit hours. This includes three core courses focused on integrating college writing into high school English classes and three elective courses at the master’s level in English. This initiative aims to increase the number of dual-enrollment teachers in the area.

“The certificate is very specifically designed for teachers who are currently teaching English III or English IV classes and are supported by their principals to gain qualification for teaching dual enrollment,” said Dr. Elisabeth Liebert, associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences and head of LSUS’s dual enrollment program.

The three courses are offered in a hybrid format and will meet once a week on Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., while the rest of the class will be online. The Louisiana Board of Regents is sponsoring the initial 12 slots, which means those individuals will be able to participate in the program for free.

The deadline to apply for one of the 12 slots is July 31. Successful applicants will be notified on August 6. To begin the application process, visit the
