EastEnders Fans Excited for Nicholas Bailey’s Return as Dr. Anthony Trueman

Fans of the long-running British soap opera EastEnders are in for a treat as one of the show’s most beloved characters, Dr. Anthony Trueman, is set to make a dramatic return. The character, portrayed by Nicholas Bailey, will reappear on screen this summer after more than a decade away from the iconic Walford setting.

Anthony first joined the cast in 2000 and quickly became a fan favorite, thanks to his steamy romance with Kat Slater (played by Jessie Wallace). As the son of Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker), he brought a unique energy to the show that left a lasting impression on viewers. His last appearance was in 2014 when he rushed to his father’s side after Patrick suffered a stroke. Since then, he has lived a life away from the Square, but upcoming scenes will see him return for a significant event: his father’s wedding to Yolande.

The official EastEnders Instagram account teased the return, highlighting that Anthony’s visit to Walford comes at a pivotal moment for Patrick. This means the character will stay longer than initially planned, leading to unexpected developments in the Trueman household.

Executive producer Ben Wadey expressed his excitement about the return, stating, “It’s great to welcome Nicholas back to the EastEnders family to reunite Patrick with his son.” He also hinted that Anthony’s brief return turns into a longer stay when he uncovers what has been happening in the Trueman household.

Nicholas Bailey, who will reprise the role, shared his enthusiasm, saying, “It is an unexpected treat to return to EastEnders and I’m full of gratitude to get the opportunity to revisit the character of Anthony.” He also mentioned the joy of working with Rudolph Walker again, calling him a significant part of his acting journey.

Fans have taken to social media to express their excitement, with many commenting, “Bring him back for longer. He was a good actor and good for the show.” Others said, “Fantastic news. I’m loving this new era” and “OMG!!!!!! I can’t wait for this; he’s aged like fine wine.”

This return is just one of several major comebacks in the soap’s recent history. Michelle Ryan recently returned as Zoe Slater after a 20-year absence, and Jake Wood is set to reprise his role as Max Branning in explosive future episodes.

Jake Wood, who last appeared on screen in February 2021, expressed his excitement about returning to Walford, saying, “I’m over the moon to be coming home to Walford.” He added that Max has unresolved drama with many characters, promising plenty of chaos ahead.

Max’s return is expected to occur in the autumn, with a permanent return later in the year. During his first stint on the show, Max became a fan favorite, particularly for his involvement in major storylines, including the infamous 2007 Christmas Day episode where it was revealed he had an affair with his daughter-in-law, Stacey Slater.

Michelle Ryan, known for her iconic “You ain’t my mother!” moment, made her return in June, keeping her return under wraps until the episode aired. The episode wasn’t available on BBC iPlayer at 6am, so viewers had to tune in for the evening broadcast to witness Zoe’s return.

As EastEnders continues to bring back beloved characters, fans are eagerly anticipating what lies ahead for the Trueman family and other returning figures. With new storylines and familiar faces, the soap is set for an exciting chapter in its long and storied history.
