The Eanes Independent School District has selected a new temporary superintendent to oversee the district.
On Thursday, the Eanes ISD Board of Trustees gave their approval to a contract with Dr. Tom Trigg for the position. He is set to take over from Dr. Jeff Arnett, whostated his plan to step down in Juneand will go back to his former position at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York.
Trigg’s career in the field of education has lasted 49 years, with his most recent role being that of superintendent at Highland Park ISD in Dallas. Before moving to North Texas, he was the superintendent of Blue Valley USD 229 in Kansas.
Trigg has also worked as a high school math instructor, mentor, high school administrator, and assistant or deputy superintendent.
He was awarded the Mike Kneale Educational Excellence in Leadership Award and recognized as one of Education Week’s Leaders to Learn From in 2015. He also made it to the top four for National Superintendent of the Year in 2011 and was honored as the Kansas Superintendent of the Year that same year.
Trigg obtained his EdD from the University of Kansas, an M.S. in Educational Administration from Emporia State University, and a B.A. in Mathematics and Physical Education from Ottawa University.
Trigg will take on the position once Arnett’s retirement is finalized on July 31, while the district looks for a new permanent superintendent. In August, the Board of Trustees will decide to hire a company to manage the search, and the process will involve feedback from families, staff, supporters, and the community.
