Eamonn Holmes and His New Relationship
Eamonn Holmes, a well-known presenter on GB News, has been making headlines not just for his professional achievements but also for his personal life. The 65-year-old broadcaster recently began dating Katie Alexander, a marriage counsellor who is 43 years old. Their relationship started at the end of last year, following Holmes’ split from Ruth Langsford, a star on Loose Women, after 14 years of marriage.
According to reports from Bella magazine, Holmes expressed deep feelings for Katie during an engagement party hosted by GB News star Nana Akua earlier this month. He reportedly called her his “soulmate,” which has sparked some reactions from those close to him. A source told The Mirror that while the comment might seem insensitive, it reflects how much Holmes values Katie’s support during difficult times.
“It was an insensitive comment from Eamonn, but he’s smitten with Katie and does feel like she has been there for him through the hard times,” the source said. However, this sentiment may be tough for Ruth Langsford, who has been a constant presence in Holmes’ life since the beginning.
Health Struggles and Public Statements
Holmes has been dealing with health issues for several years, primarily related to his back. He has spoken about dislodged discs that previously affected his sciatic nerve and limited the mobility of his right leg. In March, he shared a personal message with his followers, expressing the ongoing pain he experiences.
“Even when the sun shines there’s pain,” he wrote, sharing a selfie with his 782,000 followers. “Sometimes I feel I’ll never beat this disc immobility but I’m determined to have a life. So pray for me, help me or get out of the way social media haters.”
His struggles have often been visible, as he has been frequently seen using a wheelchair or relying on walking aids. Holmes has also turned to various therapies to aid his rehabilitation, showing his commitment to regaining his independence.
In May, he posted a throwback photo on social media, which brought up memories of his past ability to walk. “Great picture popped up from 3 years but it’s made me sad – I could walk,” he wrote. “Got to redouble my efforts.”
A New Chapter After a Long Relationship
Holmes and Langsford, who have been together for 27 years, confirmed their decision to divorce last year. They share one grown-up son, and both have been open about their decision to part ways. A joint statement from their representatives said, “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”
This marks a significant shift in Holmes’ life, as he now navigates new relationships and personal challenges. While his health remains a concern, his determination to move forward is evident. As he continues to seek support from loved ones and the public, his journey serves as a reminder of resilience and the complexities of personal life.
