DLN Roundup: Wishart Honored with AEC’s Medal of Inspiration

The Atlantic East Conference revealed that the 2025 Medal of Inspiration award winner is Robbie Wishart from Immaculata.

The Award of Inspiration, designed to recognize people who overcame challenges to become better versions of themselves, is given to those who faced their struggles with strength and dignity. Wishart is from Rising Sun, Maryland.

Last summer, Robbie’s world changed in an instant,” said IU head lacrosse coach Will Pilat. “While on vacation in Florida, his mother Erica and stepfather Brian were carried away by a strong current and sadly passed away as Robbie and his younger siblings watched from the beach. In an instant, the oldest child became the family’s support.

Amid deep sorrow and fresh duties at home, Robbie decided to come back for his senior year at Immaculata, committed not just to completing his bachelor’s degree but also to starting classes for a Master of Business Administration. He kept up a remarkable academic performance throughout the year.

“Robbier Wishart represents the true spirit of the Medal of Inspiration: he has faced incredible loss, shown bravery and selflessness, and motivated those around him through commitment, leadership, and elegance. His tale of perseverance and devotion to both his family and team makes him deeply worthy of this recognition,” Pilat stated.

As the team captain in 2025, Wishart also had a significant influence on the field. He was selected for the AEC All-Conference teams during both the 2024 and 2025 seasons. Throughout his career, the defensive midfielder participated in 68 games, collecting 167 ground balls, 38 caused turnovers, 18 goals, and seven assists. During his final season, he recorded 46 ground balls, 18 caused turnovers, four goals, and two assists, helping the Mighty Macs achieve their first perfect conference regular season, conference title, and NCAA tournament berth.

Robbie’s concern for his teammates is essential to his leadership both on and off the field,” Pilat stated. “Robbie was chosen as a team captain this year, and the way he has managed everything he and his family have faced has truly inspired our entire team. Additionally, he has served as the motivational voice and vocal leader of our group, helping us achieve our first conference championship win in the program’s history! Coaches and players alike attribute Robbie’s consistent presence and strong work ethic as the key factor behind the team’s success.
