Denison Kicks Off Annual Budget Meeting

DENISON, Texas (KXII) – The City of Denison held a workshop Friday to review its annual budget.

All of the city’s department heads met and presented their needs for the upcoming year.

What’s different this year is the amount of growth Denison has seen the last couple of years while dealing with inflation.

“When you have more growth, you have more projects you want to expand the parks and rec, you want to expand the police department to take care of that new growth,” Denison Development Alliance President Tony Kaai. “So that’s a challenge because that all has to be funded. So you got to look at your funding, and the increase in your tax base and other services to balance how much money you have versus what all your needs are.”

Kaai said the Preston Harbor development on Lake Texoma is one of the newer topics that has been discussed for the past year.
