Democrats push for immigrant rights and police accountability

OKLAHOMA CITY (KSWO) – The Oklahoma House Democratic Party is calling on state and local officials via a resolution to ensure immigrants are treated with fairness.

As stated in a press release, the resolution affirms that each individual within the United States is guaranteed due process, equal protection, and humane care.

It also mentions that law enforcement officers should not conceal their identities while interacting with the public.

The motion requests that state agencies maintain openness regarding the individuals being held and their locations.

Each and every person should have the same rights protected by the Constitution. They should be treated with dignity, compassion, and justice. Although many people, whether they are documented or not, are worried about their security, it’s crucial that we recognize our shared humanity and ensure everyone has access to information about their family members—whether they are detained or not. Every resident of Oklahoma is entitled to fair treatment and equal protection under the law, as stated in our Constitution.
