Deeper Life Bible Church located in 36 Aina Street Lawanson in Surelere Lagos has called on all Christians, legal professionals, and civil society groups to rescue the church from injustice as Surelere local government allegedly demolished church to build shopping complex.Pastor Israel Adeagbo, the Parish Pastor of the Church has called on meaningful Nigerian citizens to rescue the church from injustice perpetrated by the local government council.”This is not just a church matter, it’s about justice, rule of law, and respect for constitutional “Since 2007, we’ve worshiped and served the community at 36 Aina Street, Lawanson. But in January 2024, Surulere Local Government (SLG) declared their intention to demolish our building unlawfully.”Despite a pending court case injuction (Suit No. YSD/4860LM/24), Surulere LG sent bulldozers and thugs to demolish our church fence on May 27, 2024 a day before a proposed meeting.”This was a direct violation of our legal rights and a restraining order by the court,” he said.According to him, the second demolition came on May 26, despite the court order, Surulere LG defied a valid court order and demolished our church building.The clergy added a new court order on May 27, 2025, reaffirmed our ownership and ordered restoration saying the local government has refused to comply and remains on the property with force.”We call on all religious bodies of all faith to see this as a sacrilege and an afront on God, and also meaningful Nigerian citizens, legal professionals, and civil society groups to rescue us from this gross injustice from the local government, because our church has been demolished for no reason despite our rights ownership with valid documents,” he said.
