Crispy Air Fryer Teriyaki Wings

Crispy Air Fryer Teriyaki Wings

Create flavorful Teriyaki Glazed Chicken Wings in your air fryer for a tasty snack or main course.

Chicken wings were once an affordable meal, but they became extremely popular when sports bars began offering them. Now, I have a hard time finding them in the grocery store at a good price. However, when I do find them, my husband enjoys his favorite snack.

This is an unadvertised, homemade-style recipe.

I use Yoshida Original Gourmet Sauce as my foundation because we typically have a bottle on hand. It’s usually a large one from the warehouse store. My husband enjoys the flavor (it’s not too sweet like many teriyaki sauces), but he isn’t very impressed with its consistency, finding it somewhat thin.

I fixed that problem and he ate these wings. If you have a teriyaki sauce you like, then go ahead and use it!

Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • ½ cup Yoshida Original Gourmet Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 4-5 Sichuan peppercorns (optional – see note)

Instructions

  • Heat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Position the wings on the air fryer basket according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Place a pan below to collect any drips if this is suitable for your air fryer.
  • Bake for 35 minutes, turning the wings over and rotating the pan a quarter turn every 7 to 10 minutes (roughly).
  • As the wings are being cooked, make the sauce.
  • Mash the Szechuan pepper into a fine, powdery consistency.
  • Mix the sauce ingredients in a small pot and cook on low heat, stirring regularly, until it has decreased by half.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, mix the cooked chicken wings with the glaze and stir until the wings are fully coated.
  • Reattach the wings to the air fryer basket and cook under the broiler for 1-2 minutes per side. If your air fryer does not have a broiling function, consider using a baking sheet and broiling in your oven instead.

Notes

Szechuan pepper isn’t very hot, but offers a pleasant citrus flavor. If you can’t locate them, try a small amount of crushed black pepper along with some lemon rind if available.
