Corey Heim Reigns Supreme with Dominant Victory in NASCAR Truck Race at Charlotte

Corey Heim
Now boasts 15 victories in the NASCAR Truck Series races, securing his fourth triumph this season with an overwhelmingly dominant display at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Heim claimed both stages and controlled much of the event, easily crossing the finish line ahead. Upon completion, Heim finished more than six seconds before the second-place competitor.
Ross Chastain
.

He enjoys being distant enough from others so they can’t take everything from him,” stated Heim, referring to previous races this year where he had significant setbacks despite being the frontrunner. Ultimately, he led for 98 out of 134 laps during the event in Charlotte.

“Just super thankful for
TRICON Garage
, Toyota — this thing was clearly excellent,” he stated. “It feels as though we’ve possessed the pace over the past few years at this track, yet somehow couldn’t seal the deal. It’s simply an outstanding truck. I needed to deliver on my end. Our pit crew performed admirably. Overall, it was a very smooth run today. Really excited about this win. Feels like we let some slip through our fingers in the previous two events, but we made amends tonight.”

Behind Heim and Chastain,
Kaden Honeycutt
finished third,
Layne Riggs
fourth, and
Kyle Busch
fifth.
Grant Enfinger
,
Matt Mills
,
Daniel Hemric
,
Rajah Caruth
, and
Brandon Jones
completed the rest of the top ten.

“Top-notch performance,” remarked Chastain when recalling his night. “An incredible effort indeed.”

Overall, three trucks made it into the top seven. This is exactly what we aim for. We strive for strong competition among all three trucks for Al [Niece, owner], who is extremely pleased with accumulating a lot of points and having speedy vehicles.

He went on to say about Heim, “Currently, they are at the top of their game. Nobody could keep up with them. Whether it was the #7 [Busch] or the #34 [Rigg], everyone else was just competing among ourselves. It was quite an intense battle out there.”

At the start of the final stage, it was actually Honeycutt in control after beating Heim off pit road. On restarts, the battle for the lead was frantic and this was no different as Heim cleared Honeycutt, only to then have to fight Chastain for the lead.

Shortly thereafter, the sole shipwreck of the evening occurred.
Gio Ruggiero

. Smith collided with

And both trucks spun uncontrollably along the frontstretch.
Connor Mosack
also damaged while attempting to evade the accident.

The race restarted with 57 laps remaining, but this was not ideal for their fuel strategy. As Heim pulled ahead of the pack, Riggs and Honeycutt made their move towards the pits first with 31 laps left. Not wanting to lose ground due to an undercut, Heim followed suit immediately one lap later, dragging along Cup racers Busch and Chastain as well.

Nevertheless, certain trucks decided to extend their runs as much as possible, hoping for a fortunate yellow flag. Caruth maintained the lead throughout but eventually had to pit with 20 laps remaining since that desired caution period never materialized.

Heim took back the lead with more than five seconds separating him from Chastain, gradually increasing this advantage throughout the last 20 laps.
