Introduction to the Next-Gen Slab Scissor Lifts from Concord Access Solutions
Concord Access Solutions, a leading equipment supplier based in South Africa, has recently introduced its Genie Next-Gen slab scissor lift range across the African market. This new line of lifts is designed to bring significant improvements in design, performance, and efficiency, marking a major advancement in the industry.
The company has unveiled four new models: GS-1932, GS-2646, GS-3246, and GS-4046. These models offer several key benefits, including up to 30% more runtime, 70% fewer hydraulic hoses and fittings, and up to 35% savings in maintenance costs. These enhancements are expected to make the lifts more cost-effective and efficient for users across various sectors.
Technological Advancements and Design Changes
According to Marcus Gartside, Sales Manager at Concord Access Solutions (CAS), these new lifts represent a key milestone in the evolution of electric slab scissor lifts. While internal improvements have been ongoing, the overall appearance of such lifts has remained largely unchanged until now.
One of the most notable changes is the shift from hydraulic to DC electric drive motors, while still retaining energy-efficient AC drive motors from the E-Drive range. This transition not only improves performance but also contributes to greater sustainability and efficiency.
Another significant upgrade is the redesigned curved linkage structure, which enhances strength while reducing weight. This allows for the use of more affordable components such as batteries and motors. Additionally, the machines now come standard with maintenance-free Absorbent Glass Mat batteries, with lithium-ion options available for those who require higher performance.
Specialized Models for Specific Environments
A special oil-free version of the GS-1932, called the E-Lift, has been developed for sensitive environments like food manufacturing. This model ensures compliance with strict hygiene standards and reduces the risk of contamination.
Gartside emphasized that previous models retained a traditional, boxy design that did not reflect the internal innovation of the engineering team. The Next-Gen range now brings the outside design in line with the advanced internal features, offering a more modern and functional look.
Additional Improvements and Industry Applications
Other improvements include a reinforced platform and extension deck to reduce flex, new modular platform controls compliant with ISO21455 standards, and upgrades such as recessed decals, a rugged manual box, and reinforced forklift pockets. These features enhance usability and durability, making the lifts suitable for a wide range of applications.
“These enhancements are all designed to make this Next-Gen range of scissor lifts a true all-round performer that raises the industry bar once again,” Gartside said.
Expansion and Market Reach
Previously operating under the name Goscor Access Solutions until February 2024, CAS now manages a fleet of over 1,000 units, with working heights ranging from six to 57 metres. The company’s operations span several countries, including Nigeria, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, and the broader Southern African Development Community region. CAS offers both sales and rental services, catering to diverse industries.
The new Next-Gen range is particularly well-suited for industries such as manufacturing, maintenance, construction, cleaning, painting, warehousing, hospitals, data centres, and hospitality. These sectors can benefit from the improved efficiency, reliability, and versatility of the new scissor lifts.
With its focus on innovation and customer needs, Concord Access Solutions continues to lead the way in providing high-quality lifting solutions across Africa. The introduction of the Next-Gen slab scissor lifts is a testament to the company’s commitment to advancing technology and delivering value to its clients.
