SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — While members of the Hidalgo County Emergency Response Mobile Unit are departing the Concho Valley this week, staff from the Concho Valley Community Action Agency will maintain essential services for many of the hundreds of families significantly impacted by the July 4 floods.
At this point, we’re assisting individuals in retrieving items they’ve lost,” said Chelsea Ashton, Director of Community and Utilities Programs for the CVCAA. “FEMA is located downtown at the Annex, so our focus has shifted to supplying necessary items like cleaning supplies, clothing, and other relief services, as well as guiding people toward local organizations that continue to offer recovery assistance.
On July 23, staff from the housing authority, in collaboration with Rust Street Ministries, distributed supplies and assisted individuals in completing state iSTAT damage reports at the office located on 28th street.
The local community organization will remain collaborative with various non-profit groups in the region to deliver flood assistance to those impacted.
“We understand it will take some time for individuals to regain everything they require, and therefore, we want to ensure that no one feels neglected,” Ashton stated.
