In this current age, the urgency to enhance agricultural output through contemporary research and innovation has become critical. This necessity aims not only to address climate challenges but also to secure our food supply. Key topics surrounding these pressing matters were explored during a one-day symposium entitled ‘The Impact of Adaptive Research on Technological Progress for Secure Food Generation,’ which took place at the COMSATS University Islamabad, located in Vehari Campus.
Dr. Ishfaq Hassan, who serves as the Director General of Agriculture (Extension and Adaptive Research) at Punjab, mentioned during his speech as Chief Guest that achieving sustainability in agriculture cannot be done without conducting thorough research, implementing climate-resilient practices, and fostering academic partnerships. He highlighted that farmers require access to technology grounded in scientific studies to attain food security.
The event continued with presentations from department leaders: Dr. Muhammad Tahir discussed biotechnological advancements within his field, while Dr. Faiz Rabbani outlined key environmental science projects. Both speakers underscored ongoing efforts aimed at advancing these disciplines.
In addition, Dr. Hassan proposed internship opportunities and committed to collaborative research endeavors between local institutions and COMSATS University. Concluding the session, Professor Dr. Khuda Bakhsh stressed the importance of innovative thinking and inter-institutional teamwork in driving progress in agriculture. He praised everyone involved for successfully organizing this educational forum.
