City Councilman Steps Down in Maumee

MAUMEE, Ohio (WTVG) – A Maumee city council member who was among six listed in therecall effortshas stepped down. In his letter, he described the resignation as a personal choice.

As per a letter from the city of Maumee, Councilman Scott Noonan submitted a formal resignation notice that becomes effective on July 22.

It has been a privilege to work for the city and its people over the past few years. From handling numerous short and long-term challenges and projects, to volunteering at public events or participating in organizational meetings and opening ceremonies, I am truly proud of my contributions to the city and its residents,” Noonan stated. “Please recognize that this was a personal choice made after careful consideration and focusing on other objectives in my life that I intend to dedicate my time and energy to.

Noonan joined the Maumee City Council in December 2017 and won his initial election in 2019. He was elected again in 2023, with his current term set to end on December 31, 2027.

As per the city of Maumee, the Maumee City Charter outlines a process for replacement, which will be addressed during a special meeting on July 23.

There will be no opportunity for public feedback during the special council session.

On July 17, the Supreme Court of Ohioblocked the Maumee recall election.
