CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Michigan (WOOD) — The recently updated library has resumed operations in Cascade Township.
The Kent District Library’s Cascade Branch officially reopened on Wednesday at 2870 Jacksmith Ave. SE, located near 28th Street, during a ribbon-cutting event. The celebration on Wednesday also featured guided tours of the facility, complimentary snacks from Culver’s, and various giveaways.
We are pleased to introduce this elegant, redesigned library area to Cascade,” said Township Supervisor Grace Lesperance in a statement. “This initiative was developed based on what our community shared they required the most: more adaptable meeting areas, enhanced technology, and a friendly environment for learning, innovating, and connecting.
The township previously told News 8 that the library was “in dire need of some updates.” It was constructed in 1996 and had not undergone any renovations since 2006.
Teams renovated the interior of the library, updating elements such as wall decorations, lighting, floor surfaces, and paintings.
Every space has a tale to tell,” said Lulu Brown, Regional Manager of KDL, in a statement. “The Cascade Library is an energetic space that welcomes 200,000 visitors each year. This marks a new phase that respects the building’s original design, enhances Friendship Park, and fulfills today’s library visitors’ requirements. In the coming months, there will be additional attractions for the community to appreciate.
