LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Temperatures in the high 90’s aren’t just affecting people, some cars are having trouble riding the heat wave.
Jerry Carpenter with Liskey’s Auto and Truck Repair in Lansing said the heat can lead to a ton of issues.
“The heat is hard on them. Just like it’s hard on us, it’s hard on your car,” said Carpenter.
To prevent problems, he said it’s important to stay on top of your cars maintenance. Such as, checking your coolant, battery, and condition of your tires.
“Keep an eye on all those gauges on the dash. If you see a problem stop,” said Carpenter.
If your car breaks down out on the road, Carpenter said you should get to shade, if it’s safe.
“These cars get hot really quick. If you’re sitting in a car windows up, halfway up, they’re like an oven,” said Carpenter.
According to AAA, Drivers should park in shaded areas whenever possible and use sunshades to minimize interior heat damage.
