The Ologbotsere of Warri, Chief Ayiri Emami, has expressed deep condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Buhari family, and the people of Daura in Katsina state following the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari. The remains of the late President, who passed away in a London hospital on Sunday, were laid to rest on Tuesday in his hometown of Daura, Katsina state. Emami, in a personal statement, described Buhari as a statesman deeply dedicated to the Nigerian project and the foundational principles of the All Progressives Congress (APC) until his final days.
Contributions to National Development
Emami, who served as the Deputy Director of the Election Planning and Monitoring Committee for President Buhari’s re-election campaign in 2019, reflected on the late President’s significant contributions to the Nigerian economy. He noted Buhari’s role as Petroleum Minister under the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo and his tenure as a civilian president from 2015 to 2019.
During his time as Petroleum Minister, Buhari oversaw the construction of 21 depots across the country, invested in pipelines and storage facilities, and developed the pipeline network connecting the Bonny terminal with the Port Harcourt refinery. As a democratically elected president, he successfully completed major infrastructure projects such as the Warri-Itakpe Rail Line and the Second Niger Bridge. These achievements are considered some of the lasting legacies of Buhari’s leadership.

Emami also emphasized that as a sitting president, Buhari never interfered with the democratic process. This approach allowed opposition parties to achieve victories in certain off-season elections during his administration.
