Body of Missing Knox County Man Found, TBI Confirms

Body of Missing Man Found in Truck

Authorities in Knox County, Tennessee, have confirmed that the body discovered in a truck on Monday belongs to a missing man. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) officially identified the remains as those of Keith Conley, 65. This development comes after the vehicle, which had been reported missing last week, was found with a body inside.

The truck, belonging to Conley, was located by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office on Monday evening. At the time of discovery, the remains could not be positively identified and were sent for an autopsy. The TBI confirmed the identity of the body on Tuesday afternoon.

Background of the Disappearance

Conley was last seen around 5 a.m. on July 11 when he left South Knox County heading to Solway for work but never arrived at his destination. A Silver Alert was issued for him on July 15. Authorities had asked the public to report any sightings of his vehicle—a white 2003 Ford Ranger with a distinctive blue toolbox in the truck bed.

Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler announced that the truck was found crashed near Alcoa Highway and Topside Road around 5 p.m. on Monday. Due to the circumstances surrounding the crash, the body could not be identified at the scene. The Alcoa Police Department will lead the investigation into the crash, while an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Community Response

The search for Conley involved a coordinated effort from multiple agencies and community members. Sheriff Spangler expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, the TBI, and the Alcoa Police Department. He also thanked the many citizens who volunteered their time and the media partners who helped spread the word about the search.

Ongoing Investigation
