A Unique Creation: The BMW R 1300 R “TITAN”
A group of passionate BMW Motorrad employees came together to create a one-of-a-kind motorcycle that embodies speed, power, and innovation. This exclusive machine, the BMW R 1300 R “TITAN,” is a handcrafted masterpiece that combines aggressive styling with advanced engineering. Designed to stand out, it was built with precision and a clear goal in mind — to win.
The project was led by Philipp Ludwig, who served as the project manager. He worked closely with Andreas Martin, a vehicle designer, and Theresa Stukenbrock, the color and graphics designer. The team also included experienced prototype builders Paul Summerer and Thomas Becker. Together, they brought their expertise and enthusiasm to create a truly unique motorcycle.
Aggressive and Aerodynamic Design
Inspired by the latest generation of the BMW R 1300 R, the “TITAN” takes the original model’s design to an entirely new level. The tank and fairing lines have been reimagined into a monocoque structure commonly found on racing bikes. This design not only enhances the bike’s aesthetics but also improves its aerodynamics.
The air duct panel adds to the aggressive look, giving the “TITAN” a striking presence. The visual weight of the bike is shifted over the front wheel, creating an impression of immediate acceleration — much like a predator ready to strike. At the heart of this creation is the 1300 cc boxer engine, which powers the entire build. Around this powerful engine, a compact and efficient structure was crafted.
Details That Captivate and Dominate
The “TITAN” features a striking contrast between forged carbon fiber and a metallic blue finish. This combination gives the bike a modern and dynamic appearance, reflecting both motion and power. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the design.
BMW Motorrad has long collaborated with Akrapovic, a trusted partner in performance engineering. For the “TITAN,” Akrapovic contributed to the development of a custom titanium exhaust system. This system allows exhaust gases to exit from both cylinders and flow through a dual-flow exhaust located under the raised rear section. The result is a powerful and distinctive sound that sets the “TITAN” apart.
Performance Boosted by Nitrous Oxide
One of the most notable features of the “TITAN” is the nitrous oxide system. Located between the two titanium rear silencers, a nitrous oxide bottle is easily accessible via a button. When activated, the system injects gas directly into the intake, providing an extra burst of power for quick acceleration.
To ensure the engine’s full power is efficiently transferred to the road, the “TITAN” is equipped with a special Wilbers chassis featuring an extended swingarm. This modification enhances stability and performance, making the bike ideal for high-speed rides.
Technical highlights include a Magura HC3 brake lever and rear-set footpegs. These components are designed to provide maximum stability during launches, allowing riders to push the limits of performance.
