Big Grill Festival Returns to Dublin’s Herbert Park
Europe’s largest barbecue festival is set to take place in Dublin’s Herbert Park next month, promising an exciting three-day event filled with the finest Irish and international chefs, restaurants, and barbecue experts. The festival will run from August 14 to August 17, offering attendees a unique opportunity to experience live-fire cooking, expert demonstrations, and a variety of food and entertainment.
The event is expected to attract up to 25,000 visitors, with participants coming from all over the world. Guests will have the chance to sample a wide range of dishes from top chefs and restaurants, while also enjoying in-depth cooking demos, tastings, and workshops. In addition to the culinary offerings, there will be a free kids’ area, music performances, eating competitions, and a selection of bars and Irish craft breweries.
Event Schedule
The festival will have different operating hours across the four days:
- Thursday and Friday (August 14 and 15): Open from 4pm to 10pm, with bars closing at 9:45pm.
- Saturday (August 16): Two sessions — a day slot from 11am to 4pm (bars close at 3:45pm), followed by an evening session from 5pm to 10pm (bars close at 10:15pm).
- Sunday (August 17): Open from 12pm to 8pm, with bars closing at 7:45pm.
Ticket Information
Tickets for the festival are available in session-based formats, either afternoon or evening. The standard ticket price is €30, which includes the booking fee. Children under 12 can attend for free, although the kids’ area will only be open on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm.

The festival will feature a lineup of renowned chefs, pit-masters, and smokers from around the globe, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts and barbecue lovers alike.
Bag Policy and Other Guidelines
Attendees are allowed to bring small bags no larger than A4 size (8.27in/21cm x 11.7in/29.7cm). All bags will be searched upon entry, and larger bags or backpacks will not be permitted inside the venue. There are no cloakroom or storage facilities available at the event.
Accessibility and Additional Rules
The festival is fully wheelchair accessible, with all areas on a single level and designated pathways for easier movement. Disabled toilet facilities are also available. Small umbrellas are allowed, and reusable water bottles can be filled at designated stations throughout the venue.
Outside food and drinks are not permitted beyond the festival gates, except for baby food. The event will be cashless, but visitors can purchase Big Grill Smokin’ Cards using cash or card at designated booths. These cards can then be used to pay at all vendors within the festival.
