Belmont Park, considered San Diego’s historical landmark destination in Mission Beach, is turning 100 years old this year.
The amusement park’s main attraction, the “Giant Dipper,” the fifth oldest roller coaster in the country, is also turning 100 years old. The 70-foot-high, 2,600-foot-long wooden roller coaster was built on July 4, 1925, according to the

which began May 26 and ends on September 2. During this period, visitors will get the chance to win 50 lifetime passes to the park. On July 10, starting at 11 a.m., cheeseburgers will be $1 for one day only. Customers are limited to two burgers, which will be available while supplies last.
Visitors can also enjoy Carne Asada tacos at Al Pastor on the boardwalk and ride the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster, both for $1 each every Tuesday, throughout the 100 Days of Belmont.
The park also sells merchandise ranging from T-shirts to hoodies and souvenir cups as a part of its limited-edition Centennial Collection to commemorate this historical milestone.
Local leaders, including San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, are also expected to join the park’s special centennial celebration on July 1, honoring and reflecting on the park’s legacy.
