Banish Pet Hair for Good: One Household Item That Cleans Carpets Better Than a Vacuum

Pets can be great company around the home, but they’re also notorious for leaving their hair everywhere, and it can be particularly troublesome if you’ve got carpets. Even if you
vacuum
daily, you might notice that their hair quickly piles up again, especially in the warmer weather as they shed more to help keep them cool.

While
carpets
can instantly make a room feel more cosy, they can also become unsightly when dirt and pet hair builds up. Instead of having to get your vacuum out everyday and going over the whole carpet, which can be a timely process, a
cleaning
expert with 30 years of experience has shared how you can simply remove it using rubber gloves and water. In a video posted on
Instagram
, Cindy Hendler shared the cleaning tip for removing pet hair that “actually works”, which she said has now become “standard practice” in her life.

Next time you spot a pile of pet hair, instead of reaching for your vacuum, simply grab your Marigold gloves and rinse them under some water. You can then gather any pet hair left behind in a few sweeps.

While Marigolds are typically used for keeping your hands protected while doing the washing up, they can also be used for a number of cleaning jobs around the house.

Running them under some water helps produce friction between the gloves and fabric surfaces like carpets, helping collect and remove pet hair.

In the caption of the video, Cindy said: “This pet hair hack blew up because it actually works! No fancy gadgets, just simple & smart cleaning the way it should be.”

It’s also a great way to keep your carpets tidy in between going over them with your vacuum, and can prevent your carpet from looking unsightly if your pet has started to shed more hair this summer.

One follower commented on Cindy’s video and said: This is fabulous. I’m always looking for easier & cheaper ways to remove pet hair. Thank you.”
