The annual Adams County Fair began on Wednesday, along with the selection of the 2025 fair queen!
This year, 15 young women vied for the title of Miss Adams County, and Andrea Schaffnit from Mendon emerged as the victor!
Schaffnit is 19 years old and is currently studying Healthcare Management at SIU-Carbondale. She is the child of Kevin and Nicole Schaffnit from Mendon.
This also marked the 60th anniversary of the coronation of the Adams County Fair queen.
Schaffnit states that this is a long-anticipated dream.
“I can’t wait to serve as a role model for younger children and demonstrate that they can be involved in agriculture while also having the chance to wear a crown and sash,” Schaffnit said.
With Schaffnit, Marcus Buck and Ava Brinkman were honored as Little Mister and Miss Adams County.
The festival continues until Tuesday, July 29th.
