Alexis Díaz Called Up with Tanner Scott on 15-Day IL

The DodgersOn Tuesday, the team placed Tanner Scott on the 15-day injured list due to left elbow inflammation. This came after the left-handed pitcher experienced a discomfort in his forearm during Monday night’s game against the Twins.

Scott recorded the last out of the eighth inning and another out in the ninth, but two walks and a hit by pitch threatened the Dodgers’ lead. One pitch before the second walk, Scott exited the game with a team trainer while shaking his hand.

Manager Dave Roberts said to reporters following Monday’s game that a trip to the injured list was probable for Scott, who has a 4.14 ERA in 47 games with 19 saves, a major-league-high seven failed saves, 50 strikeouts, and 11 bases on balls in his 45⅔ innings pitched.

On Tuesday, the situation appeared more hopeful, as Scott could still take the mound again this season.

Scott is the 18th unique Dodgers pitcher to be added to the injured list this season, a group that features other high-impact relief pitchers such as Evan Phillips, Blake Treinen, Michael Kopech, Brusdar Graterol, and the currently active Kirby Yates.

Six out of the 13 pitchers who participated in the Dodgers’ home opener on March 27 have not been placed on the injured list this season: Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Dustin May, Alex Vesia, Jack Dreyer, Ben Casparius, and Anthony Banda.

Replacing Scott on the active roster is Alexis Díaz, who was promoted from Triple-A Oklahoma City. This marks his second time in the major leagues with the Dodgers sincebeing acquired from the Reds on May 29. He was summoned on July 8when the team was based in Milwaukee but he did not pitch in the one game he was available for,and was acquired the following day.

Díaz has a 6.75 ERA, with seven walks and six strikeouts in 6⅔ innings across eight games with the Comets, including one save. His most recent appearance was on Saturday, where he pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts in Sacramento.
