Alexander Skarsgård Reacts to Fan Theories About Taylor Swift’s Song

“I’m being sincere. I composed the lyrics for that song and sent it to Taylor,” he said with a laugh.

“He’s extremely tall, and incredibly good-looking” – but ishe Alexander Skarsgård?

For many years, one of the most beloved fan theories among Swifties has suggested thatTaylor Swifther steamy song “Wildest Dreams” from her1989the album was inspired by the Swedish actor, with whom she had a short collaboration on the 2014 filmThe Giver.

Dax Shepardtried to get Skarsgård to comment on the issue ina fresh installment of hisArmchair Expert podcast.

Shepard shared with his visitor that for many years, he has been attempting to persuade his two young daughters, who are huge fans of Swift’s music, that the song is truly about him. He remembered how he kept up the act when he took his 12-year-old daughter, Lincoln, to an Eras Tour concert in Lisbon, Portugal, and Swift performed the song during the show.1989 portion of her set.

“And then, during my damn research today, I read that the song is about you,” Shepard said to Skarsgård, who laughed and then tried to turn it back on Shepard.

Wait, she saw you in the crowd, and she said, ‘I’m going to sing this song’ — maybe itisAbout you,” Skarsgård joked regarding Shepard, continuing, “I wasn’t present in Lisbon, so it was obviously about you.

Shepard then inquired of his guest whether he, too, had “the same fear of either admitting or denying that it could be true, because the influence of the Swifties is so powerful that you simply don’t want to discuss it.”

The MurderbotThe actor laughed and said, “Yes.”

Shepard then said he couldn’t believe he had been telling that joke with his children for six years.

Skarsgård said, “It’s regarding Brad Pitt, guys, let’s face it.”

The actor neither confirmed nor denied that the song was about him, but he eventually joked, “I’m going to be honest. I wrote the lyrics for that song and sent it to Taylor. ‘Taylor, this is what you should say.'”

Serious for a moment, when the subject of being a fan of Swift’s music was brought up, Skarsgård gently remarked, “We’re all Swifties.”

The idea is as follows: Since the “Wildest Dreams” music video shows a brief romance between two movie co-stars, and since the video was filmed in South Africa likeThe Giver, and since Swift wears a dark-haired wig in both the video and the movie, the song might be referring to Skarsgård. The song doesn’t offer many hints about the love interest’s identity besides the mentioned lyrics that he is “very tall” and “handsome beyond words,” but that hasn’t stopped fans from guessing.

From her perspective, Swift never acknowledges who her songs are inspired by (if anyone), and “Wildest Dreams” is similarly unclear.
