The Deputy Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Admiralty, Prof. Christopher Ogbogbo, has stated that research is essential in the quest for truth and enhances the limits of understanding.
Ogbogbo spoke during the 4th Annual ADUN Research Week, which took place on Tuesday at the university’s premises in Delta State.
He stated, “ADUN is dedicated to addressing real-world challenges through thorough research and innovation. We aim to reaffirm the University’s vision of functioning as a center for research-led development in Nigeria.”

The Deputy Chancellor praised Prof. Chinwe Isitua and her group for hosting a well-organized research week.
He observed that the gathering united academics, administrators, personnel, and students on an energetic forum for academic interaction.
Furthermore, Prof. Chinwe Isitua, Chairperson of the event, stated that ADUN Research Week fosters innovation, intellectual dialogue, and strategic partnerships for the progress of the nation and the world.
Isitua mentioned that the event, which began in 2022, has expanded in both range and influence, highlighting that the first edition, with the theme “Enhancing ADUN Research Efforts via Collaboration Between Local Communities and Academia,” established a solid cooperative base.
As the leader of the Senate Committee for Research and Funding, she showed satisfaction with ADUN’s advancements in building research capabilities.
Presenting a keynote speech titled “Research, Innovation, and Strategic Collaboration for Local Influence and Global Competitiveness,” Professor Chike Okolocha emphasized the need for more robust alliances.
He called on the academic community, government at every level, and private organizations to establish structural frameworks that promote meaningful research and innovation.
Okolocha highlighted that research should extend beyond theoretical concepts to promote national growth and economic change.
Dr. Bertha Eriakha, who delivered a paper entitled “Leveraging Scientific Research for Sustainable Regional Development and Global Influence,” emphasized that research should tackle local issues while corresponding with global sustainability objectives, such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
