Major Road Closures and Diversion Routes for M25 Junction 10 Project
Drivers should be aware of several planned road closures on the A3 as part of the ongoing M25 Junction 10 improvement project. These closures are essential to allow for critical infrastructure work, including resurfacing and the installation of new structures.
July Closure Details
From Friday, July 18 at 9pm until Monday, July 21 at 6am, the A3 will be closed in both directions between Junction 10 and the A245 Painshill roundabout. This closure is necessary for National Highways to apply a low noise surface to the busy route, which is expected to reduce traffic noise in surrounding areas.
Northbound Diversion Route
For drivers heading north, the primary diversion route will involve the following steps:
- Leave the A3 at the B2215 Send interchange
- Take the southbound A247 and the eastbound A246 towards Givons Grove roundabout
- Proceed via the northbound A24 to M25 Junction 9
- Continue on the northbound A243 towards Hook
- Then take the westbound A309 Kingston bypass and the southbound A307
- Finally, travel on the westbound A245 to rejoin the A3 at Painshill
Southbound Diversion Route
For those traveling south, the main diversion will involve:
- Exiting the A3 at the Hook interchange
- Travelling via the A243, A24, A246, and A247
- Rejoining the A3 at the Burnt Common Interchange
Detailed information on these diversions can be found on the official M25 Junction 10 project page.
Additional Closures Scheduled
The July weekend closure is not the only one planned as part of the project. Another closure is set to occur from 9pm on Friday, August 1 to 6am on Monday, August 4. During this time, the A3 will be closed in both directions between Junction 10 and the B2215/A227 at Send. This will allow workers to install several gantries and carry out resurfacing works.
A further weekend closure is also scheduled for between 9pm on Friday, September 12 and 6am on Monday, September 15. This closure will affect the southbound carriageway between the A245 Painshill roundabout and Burnt Common. Specific details about the diversion for this period will be announced closer to the date.
Importance of Following Diversion Routes
It is crucial for drivers to follow the designated diversion routes to avoid unnecessary delays and ensure the safety of all road users. The changes to the usual traffic flow may impact journey times, so planning ahead is advisable.
