On May 28, Pakistan — Following instructions from Sindh’s Sports Minister, Sardar Muhammad Baksh Mahar, the Department of Sports under the Government of Sindh presented checks totaling more than 87 lakhs rupees from the Endowment Fund to eligible athletes. The event was overseen by Abdul Aleem Lashari, who serves as the Secretary of Sports, and he personally distributed these checks during the ceremony.
The Additional Secretary of Sports, Asad Ishaq, Assistant Director of Sports, Farid Ali, and Section Officer Ali Dino Gopang were also in attendance. The Sports Secretary handed out sums between 25,000 to 300,000 rupees to 116 athletes, which included 9 footballers, 5 hockey players, 5 boxers, and 97 wrestlers. Furthermore, assistance was provided via checks to 15 widows of late athletes.
At the event, Sports Secretary Abdul Aleem Lashari said, “The athletes from Sindh are invaluable treasures for us, and we prioritize their well-being above all else. Our government remains dedicated to ensuring a prosperous future for these sportsmen.”
He stated, “In accordance with specific directives from Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Baksh Mahar, financial aid is being distributed to athletes via the Sports Endowment Fund. The Sports Department will keep providing support to wounded, ill athletes, as well as the widows of late players, using this fund.”
