On Tuesday, June 3,
Voters in Prince George’s County will head to the polling stations for a special general election.
To choose candidates for the position of County Executive and the District 5 County Council seat.
Democrat Aisha Braveboy and Republican Jonathan White are vying for the opportunity to serve out the remainder of Angela Alsobrooks’ term, which has about two years left. Alsobrooks stepped down from her role as County Executive in December following her victory in the race for Maryland’s U.S. Senate seat.
The position at the District 5 council office became empty following Prince George’s County Councilmember Jolene Ivey’s victory in a special election last November for an At-Large council role. The candidates vying for her former seat include Democratic nominee Shayla Adams-Stafford and Republican contender Fred Price, Jr. District 5 encompasses the municipalities of Bladensburg, Cheverly, and Glenarden.
