Pakistan, May 26 — The Miss World competition, frequently referred to as an international festival of elegance and activism, has encountered a significant controversy. This year’s Miss World 2025 event is scheduled for India. However, beneath the sparkle and glamour, things have taken a disturbing turn.
In an astounding turn of events, Miss England 2024, Milla Magee, has withdrawn from the contest midway through, marking the first time in the event’s 74-year existence that a contestant has left voluntarily. Her decision is shifting the focus away from the titles and toward deeper issues within the organization.
“I Felt Like a Prostitute.” That’s how Milla, a 24-year-old life guard and advocate for body positivity from Cornwall, candidly expressed herself during an intense interview with The Sun. She straightforwardly stated, “I felt like a prostitute.”

I felt like we were reduced to performing monkeys. This wasn’t why I came—to be treated as mere amusement.
She disclosed that participants had to walk past rich male backers, required to stay in evening dresses throughout the day—even during breakfast—and instructed to keep their makeup on all the time.
She mentioned that they were assigned partners, with every pair of two women sitting at tables occupied by six men. They had to stay seated with them throughout the entire event and keep them entertained,” she explained. “But it just didn’t feel right to her.
Milla joined Miss World aiming to advocate for worthy initiatives such as her CPR awareness initiative, supported by Prince William. However, what she encountered was anything but uplifting.
The intention was to create positive impact, foster change, and leave a mark. However, it quickly became clear that this wouldn’t be achievable.
She remarked, “It remains entrenched in the past. No amount of crowns and sashes can compare to making a genuine impact through the power of your voice.”
Miss World professes to embody ” beauty with a purpose,” but Milla believes it’s merely traditional pageantry cloaked in contemporary catchphrases. “I experienced pressure to fit in. However, eventually I realized how absurd this was. So, I ceased using cosmetics, dressed casually, yet they remained indifferent to my values.”
