Moto Morini’s 450 ADV Bike Could Enter US Market with a Stronger Name

Alltrhike could potentially be rebranded with a more Italian-sounding name, “Vettore”

Last November at EICMA, Moto Morini introduced a new 450cc twin-cylinder adventure motorcycle named “Alltrhike.” The name is said to be a blend of “All-Terrain” and “Hike,” but that doesn’t justify the team at Moto Morini, or its parent company, the Zhongneng Vehicle Group, for choosing a name that sounds so unoriginal.Suzuki’s GSX-S1000GX sound less awkward.

It seems Moto Morini is remaining committed to that name, officially unveiling the production version of the Alltrhike this week. At least in most regions, as we have indications it may receive a different name for the U.S. market. We’ll discuss that shortly, but first, let’s examine the Alltrhike and how it has developed from the model showcased in Milan.

The production version features a different body design than the EICMA show bike, now incorporating a large vent behind the radiator, likely intended to channel hot air away from the rider. The exhaust system has also been modified, now rising upward near the rear suspension linkage rather than at the tire.

Initially, the Alltrhike retains the show bike’s LED daytime running lights, but the projector headlights feature a more compact, rectangular shape compared to the round ones showcased at EICMA.

While we appreciate another lightweight adventure touring option, the Alltrhike doesn’t really bring anything new to the table. As seen in the image comparison below, the engine, subframe, and part of the main frame are nearly identical to theCFMOTO Ibex 450.

The engine is a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 450cc Parallel-Twin that produces 44.8 hp at 8,500 rpm and 31.0 lb-ft at 6,500 rpm, which is fairly close to the 44 hp at 8,500 rpm and 33.5 lb-ft at 6,250 rpm stated by the Ibex.

The 41mm Kayaba inverted fork provides 8.2 inches of suspension travel, and the rear shock offers 7.5 inches of movement. Both components are completely adjustable. The front wheel, which is 21 inches in size, features a single radial-mount four-piston brake caliper paired with a 320mm rotor, while the 18-inch rear wheel has a two-piston caliper and a 255mm disc. The dual-channel anti-lock braking system can be turned off for off-road riding.

Coming to dealerships in September, the Alltrhike will be available in two trims. The base model is offered in black or green, whereas the “High Equipped” model is available in white and includes a heated seat, heated grips, handguards, and an alternative tire choice.

We really enjoyed the Ibex, enough that we gave it serious thought for ourBest Adventure Bike and Best Value nods, and on paper, it would be the Alltrhike’s main rival. The seat height measures 33.1 inches, which is taller than the Ibex’s standard 32.3 inches, and Moto Morini states a dry weight of 419 pounds, which is significantly heavier than the CFMOTO’s reported 386 pounds.

Other possible rivals include theRoyal Enfield Himalayan, KTM 390 Adventure R, and BMW’s new F 450 GS.

Additional features consist of a customizable windscreen, a TFT display featuring navigation, USB and USB-C ports, and a center stand.

Regarding the name and availability in the U.S., Moto Morini has not officially introduced the Alltrhike yet. However, Moto Morini has provided vehicle identification number (VIN) details to the U.S. National Highway Safety Administration, indicating a 45 hp 449cc engine and a new model titled “Vettore” (Italian for “Vector”).

“Vector” in Italian, Vettore is joined by the X-Cape 700 and X-Cape 1200 as the latest entries in Moto Morini’s VIN decoder. All other new and existing models have already been verified with one of the other engine configurations, making it straightforward to link the Vettore with the 449cc engine.

Unless a surprising new 450 model is introduced for the U.S., it seems probable that the Alltrhike will be branded as the Vettore in North America. This, ironically, is similar to what CFMOTO has done with the Ibex, which is known as the 450MT in other regions. We are hoping this will be the case, as “Vettore” sounds more appealing and, personally, is easier to type than “Alltrhike.”
