Arizona Cardinals’ wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is serious as he heads into hissecond season.
He came to OTAs a few months back, clearly stronger, and now the statistics support that as well.
Harrison Jr. is officially listed as weighing 220 pounds, an increase of 11 pounds compared to last season.
I didn’t want to overdo it,” Harrison said. “It’s also somewhat of a natural process. How much your body can develop and grow.
Harrison mentioned that his progress was less about changes in weightlifting and more about adjustments in his diet.
Although he does not like breakfast, he has now made a decision to begin his day with it and, overall, has committed to consuming more food than he did while at Ohio State.
“During my time in college, I didn’t consume as much food as I should have. It’s not that the food wasn’t accessible. I simply wasn’t a large eater back then; now I eat significantly more,” he stated.
On the first day of training camp, Harrison’s teammates spent the day admiring his physical appearance.
“I attempted to remain a few rows back. He’s lifting more than I am, so I don’t want anything to do with that,” said tight end Trey McBride.
McBride thinks Harrison is on a mission and recognizes that the pressures on a rookie can be significant.
“As a new player, you enter with wide eyes, trying to understand everything, and searching for your role in this league,” he said.
For Harrison, intense weightlifting leaves him feeling more buoyant than ever.
I would say much more relaxed, not as anxious or restless,” he said about the main difference between last year and this year. “Much more calm, which has let me go out there and feel a bit more free.
