She has long been a well-known presence on television networks, delivering weather updates to households throughout the nation.
However, presenter Carol Kirkwoodhas shared her desire to retire within the next two years in order to embark on a new chapter with her police officer husband.
A 63-year-old individual has been a constant presence at theBBCfor 27 years, but has mentioned that she intends to move to a new location with her partner Steve Randall, 49, once she reaches the age of 65.
Talking about her plans for retirement, Ms Kirkwood, who is also a well-known writer, stated: ‘We fell in love with Majorca, where we went so I could work on my fifth novel, Meet Me at Sunset, which tells the story of a woman escaping from a broken relationship.’
Steve and I intend to flee and embark on a journey for a while once we retire, maybe within the next year or two.
We’ll go on a trip in an RV or get into the car, cross over toFrance and then just drive.’
Ms. Kirkwood, hailing from Morar in Lochaber, was previously married to property developer Jimmy Kirkwood. The couple separated in 2008 after being together for 18 years, and their divorce was officially completed in 2012.
She recently made a playful remark when questioned about her second marriage, stating to a newspaper: “Love is more beautiful the second time around. No disrespect to my first husband, but this is better.”
Ms. Kirkwood, who participated in Strictly Come Dancing in 2015, started her professional journey at the BBC as a secretary, later transitioning with the Met Office and subsequently joining BBC News in 1998.
She is frequently featured in all BBC Weather’s broadcasts, including both radio and television, and serves as the primary weather presenter on BBC Breakfast.
The television personality, who is 14 years senior to her spouse, also discussed the age difference in their relationship, saying it has no impact on her.
She said to Saga Magazine: “Steve turns 50 this year. What others think about the age difference isn’t important – I don’t feel he is younger than me.”
She further stated that she feels encountering him was destiny.
She stated, “We were at an event that neither of us wished to attend. It was a Sliding Doors moment—had I not been there, we would have never crossed paths.”
In a different interview, Ms. Kirkwood mentioned: “Love is more beautiful the second time around.”
The wedding was the most ideal day. Storm Gerrit was raging outside, yet we didn’t pay any attention.
It focused on our marriage rather than a large, elaborate ceremony. We didn’t have any guests and created our own vows.
When you grow older, you understand better what you desire.
