Eight young cats were discovered left alone outside Kitten Scoop Cat Rescue in Greensburg on Wednesday morning.
Amanda Coats, the organization’s president, mentioned she visited the building on a spontaneous basis.
“If I hadn’t intervened — it’s 90 degrees outside. They would all have perished. It’s terrible,” she stated.
The kittens were discovered packed closely in a small carrier, coated in glue, waste, fleas, and worms.
We began with some baths,” Coats mentioned. “We conducted some intake procedures and combined testing along with bedding at the shelter, administered vaccines, eliminated the fleas, and now we’re here. Some of them have additional toes. They’re really adorable.
She is addressing the kittens’ anemia, caused by fleas, and mentioned that with antibiotics, proper nutrition, and rest, they should start to recover.
Some are in a more deteriorated condition than others.
This one, we began giving him antibiotics for the wound on his neck,” she said. “They remain very kind and affectionate.
Basic flea treatments and deworming—those things cost just a few cents,” Coats stated. “And we could have demonstrated them, if they had come and learned about these instead of getting into the situation they’re in now.
Coats mentioned that this is the first instance this year where the one-year-old rescue organization has encountered a case of this nature.
Dan Cody, the head of Humane Animal Rescue in Pittsburgh, notes that animal abandonments usually rise during the summer months.
“We are also noticing a rise in stray animals being brought in. We’re seeing more animals coming from Animal Care and Control in the city of Pittsburgh,” he stated.
