Former GOP strategist Rick Wilsonon Tuesday observed the “deep indication” for whyPresident Donald Trumpis making an effort to avoid discussing the deceased convicted sex offenderJeffrey Epstein.
“This is a genuine grasp of what terrifies him,” said Wilson — co-founder ofThe Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump political action committee – in anMSNBC appearance.
Donald Trump may not be a brilliant individual, but he possesses a particular level of wild cleverness when it comes to situations that threaten him personally, legally, or politically.
Critics have strongly criticized the president, alleging that he is attempting to shift attention away from his administration’s management of documents related to the fallen financier.
Trump — who has repeatedlydownplayedonce being friends with Epstein as outletscontinue toreportregarding their friendship — has shifted his focus tostraws, sports team names, accusing Barack Obama of betrayal, The killing of Martin Luther King Jr. The murder of Martin Luther King Jr. The death of Martin Luther King Jr. The tragic passing of Martin Luther King Jr. The assassination of the civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. The fatal shooting of Martin Luther King Jr. The untimely death of Martin Luther King Jr. The killing of the renowned activist Martin Luther King Jr. and a bizarre video compilation in recent days.
Despite Trump’s approval rating improving among Republicansfollowing the backlash from MAGA supporters regarding his administration’s management of the so-called Epstein files, a new Reuters/Ipsos polldiscovered that 69% of Americans think the administration is hiding information about Epstein’s clients.
Wilson stated that Trump has a “sharp awareness” that the Epstein issue is “extremely damaging,” referencing Sen. Dick Durbin’s (D-Ill.) assertion that approximately 1,000 FBI agentswere requested to mark records connected to Epstein that mentioned the president.
“This is a man who appears guilty, sounds guilty, looks guilty, and even smells guilty,” Wilson said to MSNBC’sKaty Tur.
He later added, “Epstein has become the thing that’s taking over his mind, it’s wearing him down, he looks and sounds— as you accurately note— very different now. It’s not a confident change, it’s not a positive difference, it’s fear.”
Wilson then mentioned Trumpoffering his well-wishesFollowing her arrest and charges of sexual trafficking in July 2020, Ghislaine Maxwell, a long-time associate of Epstein, faced legal consequences.
“Who is making that claim about a well-known sex trafficker? Who is saying that about someone who received a 20-year prison sentence for trafficking minor girls?” Wilson questioned.
There’s an important element missing here, a missing component in this system regarding Donald Trump’s connection with Epstein. It has completely disrupted his administration and thrown him off his usual performance.
